It has been a while since I write. There are certain reasons that put me away from writing since 2 months. Today, as I get an ample time, I penned down my thoughts on shit of paper.
Some time back, I was travelling in a bus to my workplace. I was standing near the door of the bus. Pretty occupied with my thoughts, as I was feeling little low. Frustration and angry mood swings with sadness in between. I was quite busy thinking about my life and future.
The bus suddenly stopped at a certain point which is just before my destined place and as I was totally engaged in some thought, I happened to make an eye contact with some guy on that point where bus stopped. He also glanced at me. Since, the guy kind of stared at me or (Actually, it was the other way round since I realized this later) maybe he was thinking that I was staring at him. I got completely cut off from my thoughts. Then he smiled and waved at me. Maybe he thought I am some of his acquaintance. But I am pretty sure, I had never met this guy before. In the midst of these thoughts, I smiled back and waved my hand. This action was involuntary. I can’t recall, why I did this. Maybe it is just a human tendency to reciprocate when someone smiles. In this moment of few seconds. I just got complete cutoff from my mind and came to present.
Later when the bus left the stop, I was just thinking why the hell I smiled. Or why did some random guy brought a smile to my face? I somewhat had introspection that in times of depression or low feeling, some random people make you feel good. Or just they unknowingly help you to be in present. I was trying to analyze what might be going through the guy’s mind. Maybe it is his nature to smile. Or he was just in a good mood that moment. But then why this random coincidence happened. Anyway, some stranger does bring a smile on your face makes you feel good.
As I reflected on that chance encounter, I realized that there was a lesson to be learned from it. Sometimes, when we are lost in our own struggles and challenges, it can be easy to forget the simple joys of life - a smile, a wave, a kind word from a stranger. But these small moments of connection and positivity can have a powerful impact, reminding us that we are not alone in this world and that there is always hope for brighter days ahead.
