There are very few peoples to whom I admire in my life. Only few. Among those few people's Ratan Tata has acquired a prominent place. Since the day I came to knew about the 26/11 attack and exlempary work of Ratan Tata during this crisis, he made me his eternal follower.
This is not a only single incident due to which I admire him most, there are numerous... there are also various things that one can learn from him.
Following the occasion of his birthday, I hereby listed the things which makes me his true admirer.
The story of Ratan Tata will seem nothing less than the story of a hero who has devoted most of his life for the growth of his company, welfare of his nation and its people, and also the welfare of stray dogs. Yes you read it correctly stary dogs. His loves towards the stray dogs is very well known by the people's who knows him closely.
In one of the event while sharing his thoughts with the audiance he exclaimed that, “My only regret is that I’m not 20 years younger, because I think India is going through a very exciting period in its history”
I recently read this beautiful story on medium app....about Ratan Tata which I personally think to share with you...
Ratan N Tata started his career in the ailing electronics company in the Tata portfolio – NELCO, where he had an assignment as a steward. He was the chief person behind an assignment and was much regarded.
The story goes that a team of senior managers from NELCO was driving to Nasik along with Tata, who was heading the project. Halfway into the journey, the car had a flat tyre, and as the driver pulled up, the occupants – including Mr. Tata – got off for a comfort break, leaving the driver to replace the tyre.
Some of the managers welcomed the forced break, as it allowed them a much-needed chance to light up a cigarette. Some used the opportunity to stretch, and smile, and share a joke. Some even had a cup of tea from a nearby stall.
After a few minutes, a senior official couldn't find Tata and was puzzled. They looked here and there and found him busy helping the driver change tyres. Sleeves rolled up, tie swatted away over the shoulder, the hands expertly working the jack and the spanner, bouncing the spare tire to check if the tire pressure was ok. Droplets of sweat on the brow, and a smile on the face.
One of them asked him, “Ratan, what you think you're doing? The driver will change the tyre, it's his job.”
Ratan Tata, as humblest as he is replied, “Sir, if we don't help him fix this problem, we will lose a couple of precious time and a loss of time is a loss of money.”
This lesson reminds me the leadership lesson.
A leader defines himself, whatever be the situation!!
“If there are challenges thrown across, then some interesting, innovative solutions are found. Without challenges, the tendency is to go on the same way” like he said, Tata was always up for challenges. One of them was a milestone in the company’s history, the birth of India’s first indigenous car, Tata Indica – ‘Indi’a made ‘ca’r.
Even when everyone told him that it cannot be done without the help of an international company, he and his team went ahead and successfully launched the car, which also started a new trend within the company itself.

We all are very well known about the TATA NANO CAR 🚗 but very few of us known the story behind it.
In November 2003 Ratan Tata saw a family of four on a scooter. It was raining and the family was somehow managing and adjusting themselves on the two-wheeler. This incident moved Tata so immensely, that he took it on himself to come up with a safer alternative for this. Though the Tata Nano cars are failed but still Ratan Tata recalls it as one the best accomplishements in his life as the reason behind Nano's concept was safety of middle class and nuclear families who ride on two-wheelers with obstacles.
Though I have not met him personally, by what I have heard I can definitely say that he is an epitome of how someone can be rich, powerful as well as humble at the same time.
Following are the life incidents which address why Ratan Tata is looked at with so much reverence and also notes that why he is different from other billionaires among the globe.
• The time when he took over Jaguar Land Rover from Ford
In 1998 when Ratan Tata decided to sell his passenger car business to Ford as Tata Indica was a failure in its first year, Bill Ford (chairman of Ford) said, "If you do not know anything, why did you start the passenger car division at all. It will be a favor if we buy this business from you."
Nine years after the 'humiliation', when Ford was on the verge of bankruptcy, Tata Group offered to buy their luxury car brand Jaguar Land Rover. The car is now owned by the Tata Group. Ford chairman Bill Ford thanked Tata, saying, 'You are doing us a big favor by buying JLR.'
• Ratan Tata was to chair an AGM of Tata Steel at Birla Matushree Sabhaghar in Mumbai, he was late by two minutes. On arrival, he genuinely apologized to everyone, being delayed by the traffic there. He is perhaps the only celebrity who would do that for just two minutes delay.
• Whenever he is riding alone, he sits with his driver and not in his back seat. But many a time, when the driver is not available, he just drives himself.
• He even traveled economy class when Air Asia inaugurated their flight route to Goa in 2014. Wonder if other business bigwigs out there can do this or if our MLAs and MPs with their bloated egos can travel economy class?
• He used to work as a blue collar employee for his own company at Tata Steel, Jamshedpur till 1971 and this too after declining to work with IBM in New York. He even handled blast furnaces and shoveled limestone and then moved on to managerial positions in the company because of his sharp acumen and insightful ideas
Even though he has attained such great heights of success, wealth in his life, his personality is as humble as it could be.
Not even a tinge of arrogance has been able to creep into him. He is a biggest example of how a industrialists can run a company successfully and generate billions in wealth and still be loved by people at this scale. Respect!!
Very few people's know that Ratan Tata is a trained pilot and only a first Indian civilian to fly the F-16 falcon fighter aircraft.
